Good morning! I recently got into gardening and bought a seed packet to try as well as an established plant (lemon balm). I don't know a LOT but I've been looking to maybe start a small herb garden. However I live in an apartment on third floor so those restrictions exist. I was wondering if there were any tips for growing/not worrying as much about my plants and their growth? I live in a Cfa climate (humid subtropical) and my balcony is south facing and gets maybe 4-6 hours of sun a day. Thanks!

You have ideal light and temperatures on your balcony for herbs and other plants. If you want worry free gardening, look into using ollas in your pots and mulching the top soil to retain moisture. Then you only need to water on hot days, just make sure your ollas are filled with water.

The important thing is choosing the right plants for your climate. And perennials last longer than annuals and come back each year

Yeah I did a hot minute of research into what could possibly thrive. I'm mostly just focusing on herbs for the moment but if I'm able to successfully keep these alive I may branch into a couple vegetables! I bought an established lemon balm and transplanted that into a nice big pot a couple weeks ago and it seems to be doing well so there's that!
