Hey everyone, not about a specific plant I just need to fact-check. I heard that with part-sun-loving plants, the best thing to do with grow lights is give them 4-6 hours. Is this correct? What have you found success doing?

That could be a starting point. But depends on brightness of the light and distance to plant. I have many grow lights and even the plants needing part sun, the lights are on at least 12 hours. They are just not as bright as my succulent lights.

If it’s in a spot where the natural light it gets with the grow light off is negligible, then you probably need the grow light on for more like 12 hours. It does matter intensity and distance, but if the artificial light is the only light the plant gets, it needs way more than just 4-6 ( in summer, even in winter it’d be like 8)

When they say part sun you just need to keep an eye out for sun burnt leaves. So when a plant says it’s part sun or part shade, i just keep them a little further away from the grow light than the ones that say full sun. I would still keep grow lights on for 12 hours. I keep nerve plants under grow lights and they are full shade plants and they are thriving.

I have mine under 12hrs from 7am-7pm and some light filters in through the trees outside my window next to the cabinet that my plants are in with no issues The shortest distance between foliage and the lights is probably 5-10cm and the plants have been loving it
