When I water my orchid, I pull it out of the pot it is in with the stick it is attached to… I fill the actual pot, with water, then set the orchid back in. And then the orchid soak in all the water. I usually only do this once evergreen two weeks. Never repot your orchid while it is in bloom because most likely the flowered will die bc of the stress from repot. You will know when to repot because the roots will either start to curl around the bottom continuously, or start escaping from the clear holder it is in.

1 likeI agree with the above 2. The watering methods of LearningPlantMom is the best way, UNLESS your plant is in solid sphagnum moss. It will absorb way to much moisture and rot. If you’re a new orchid owner its a very good idea to repot into an orchid specific mix in a clear plastic insert pot. Orchid roots are like sponges. So they like to absorb a bunch of water, the be allowed to dry out slightly. The orchid specific medium allows for airflow through the roots giving it a chance to dry. Their roots will go silvery/white/yellowish when they need water, so a clear orchid insert pot is great to monitor this. Bright green when they’ve absorbed enough water. Don’t repot until its dropped its blooms though as it will shock the plant and you’ll lose those beautiful flowers (as the above have said).

Once it drops its blooms (and it does start growing a new one right away) you can repot 👍🏻 those roots look excellent right now.
