I’ve had this Maranta/Prayer Plant for a few weeks, and I can’t seem to get the leaves to unfurl. When they arrived they were fully unfurled and happy and then at some point they curled up like this and have stayed this way since. Any ideas? I’ve tried it in-front of a grow light and not, and letting it get dry and then watering it thoroughly. Any advice would be appreciated! My first time with a Maranta!

I have one and it’s honestly trial and error! Mine went through a period where the leaves curled up when I got it too, but now it’s thriving! I have mine on a consistent watering schedule, I use liquid fertilizer on the recommended frequency, and it’s under a grow light. From your picture the soil looks very dry and clumpy—it makes me wonder if the plant is having a hard time breaking through and getting the nutrients it needs. You may need to repot it with new soil. The good news is even though these plants can be dramatic, mine was very hearty. I had lost about half the plant trying to find solutions and now it’s bounced back and is doing better than when I got it!

Maranatas grow on the rainforest floor - very humid conditions, and constantly moist soil. Bright indirect light with some dappled sun They do well in semi-hydro setups (pon, leca, etc) since they’ll constantly have access to water without being soggy. In soil, I would let the top half dry before watering

Hiya! I thought it was worth suggesting maybe placing in a spot a bit further from the grow light? Maybe just need to find the sweet spot. I’ve read these plants will curl to defend themselves against too much sun or a lack of humidity. Wishing you and your little plant bb lots of luck!
