I’m new to the plant world. Picked up this pretty little thing today in the Lowe’s clearance section. Looks like a leaf was broken off. Only thing is, I’m not entirely too sure what it is. I’m thinking an alocasia of some kind. Any help would be great!

Looks a lot like my elephant ear plant. Sorry I'm no expert.

Do elephant ears have a velvet look to them as well? In the lighting this one appears to have more of a velvet look to it

Didn't really capture it but mine does have a bit of a velvet appearance. It was sold to me as an elephant ear last year

That does look similar! I found a little tag in mine and it had a QR code that said it was an alocasia. I’m so confused now. lol

Yep that’s regal shield. They get really big and keep it out of direct sun. They burn easily 👍
