I just got a string of pearls and I’ve heard that they are hard to take care of. I’m not sure if planta will be good because I’ve had some issues before. Should I trust planta and put her into a schedule or do it my self?

Does good inside under a grow light and water like it’s a succulent

Yeah, basically what the first commenter said. The main reason people struggle with ‘string of ___’ plants is that they treat them like other hanging/trailing plants, but they are much closer in care to succulents. They should get lots of bright light, usually a windowsill is good, and they should be watered pretty infrequently, as long as they’re in a well-draining medium. They also are pretty good about telling you when they want water, as their pearls will start to look shriveled.

I’m not the most reliable person since I don’t have one of these yet, but I never trust Planta’s watering advice and just use it as a reminder to check. What I’ve heard for SOPs is that they need lots of bright light, and you can tell they need water when the windows (the little clear slits on the sides of the pearls) close up

I struggled with these for a year..each one died a slow painful death. B4 I got my current one I read somewhere (here or another plant community) the suggestion to put it in a window with its own grow light. Happy to say mine is now thriving. I water by planta’s schedule but sparingly
