looks like a chop is in order!!!!! the plant isn't maturing because it's not growing along the pole anymore, it's splayed out to the side.

Thanks! Thats what I was thinking. It worries me because the original stalk doesn’t look very healthy. But I would hope that would improve with cutting it back and encouraging growth. And hopefully the top of the cutting takes to soil!
1 likei think it's just corking, getting woody because it's tall. a lot of plants do it, not really indicative of a problem. if you scrape a little bit it should be green or white under

You’re right! I really meant the full expression of the leaf shape, which is more tri-lobed / more of the sword shape!
