I found this small plant outside of my yard, anyone know what type of plant this is and how to care for it?

It's in the conifer family, probably a pine or spruce. Do not let the soil totally dry out since it's a seedling. Some species of these are very vulnerable to spider mites. I've found they're a bit delicate about repotting, so be gentle with the roots

It does look like a ground juniper. They are as they say, common. Around me in Iowa, they are a weed. Those junipers are quite prickly even when they're that small. If the leaves are on the soft side it could be another conifer perhaps a balsam fir or bald cypress.

By the way, the bald cypress and I believe the balsam fir also, are deciduous conifers. They have cones but they also lose their needles/leaves in the fall.
