Just brought this ficus home. I usually see people growing this type of ficus with one main stem. Am I correct to assume that each of these branches is a separate plant, or is it all branching from the main plant. If they are separate, how fussy are ficus roots? Will the plant care if I separate the smaller plants out after letting it settle into its new home?

First of all, beautiful plant! I think they are separate. Ficus roots aren’t a that hard to untangle. Just untangle the roots by hand very gently until you can pull the stems apart. Then repot each tree in their own pot with well draining potting soil.

Excellent. That is what I was hoping! And thank you. Opening day at our local greenhouse and the weather here in WI is unseasonably warm, so my 14 year old and I just had to go! She talked me into a jade plant too. Definite enabler. ☺️
