I just bought this money tree and the care instructions says to put two ice cubes in the pot once a week which equals 3TBSP of water. Does that sound accurate? Also I can’t tell what type of soil it’s in. Is it supposed to be this dry? I just did to ice cubes this morning. This is the pot it came in as well.

No serious plant seller would recommend that. Where did you buy it?

It was from BJ’s and that is what the back of the tag says that’s in the picture. When I googled this plant it says to water it all the way through. It looked way too dry to me so I wanted some more info from what others do that have one.

That’s sad a grower is recommending that kind of care. They need to be thoroughly watered when the top half of the soil is dry. Not by the week or whatever. That soil doesn’t look so good either. Mine is in regular houseplant soil with additional roughage or grit. That’s what I use but others may use different formula. Also depends on pot you will be using.

BJ’s is a grocery bulk store. Lots of grocery stores tell you to water indoor plants with ice cubes. This way the plant dies faster and you buy a new one sooner!

Do not use ice cubes to water ANY plants! Big box stores just say this so your plant eventually dies and you buy another one☹️follow plantas instructions on how to water this plant!

ALSOO, check the bottom of the trunk at some point, most braided money trees will have a tight band around the trunk where the roots begin. It eventually chokes the plant out and it will die! These stores really set you up for failure.

Yikes! Okay I will check for that maybe when I address the soil. I did cut the top tie that was on it.

I would refresh the soil and cut the rubber band off that is likely holding the tree under soil.
