My variegated Hoya had 5 of these funky thingys and, 1 by 1, they started falling off. Questions: 1) what are these growths? 2) is it not good that they fell off? 3) what happens next? Thx in advance for any assistance!

That looks like an inflorescence (flower spike). I’m no expert, but I didn’t know Hoyas had inflorescence in that shape. The plant could easily be mistaken for a peperomia that most definitely have inflorescence like those. Could it be that the plant is a Pepperomia obtusfolia?
6 likesI was told at plant sale she was a Hoya by MO Botanical Garden seller … could be Pepperomia, yet I’ve only known those to have leathery leaves - my June has smooth leaves.
0 likesDo they emerge from between two leaves? Or is it more on a bare stem spot?
2 likesThat’s a peperomia flower stem/shoot! I agree with Summz (my peperomias have lost flower stems before blooming when they were perfectly healthy so the plant most likely just gave up on the flowering part but it’s not all bad! That means the plant will focus on new leaves and roots instead of flowers)
