Hey y’all I’m just getting into indoor plants as it gives me something to do (super excited to learn). I do have a spider plant in a nursery pot (in another decorative draining pot) but there are roots coming out of the nursery pot. Does that mean it’s time to repot?

spider plants love to be crowded in their pots, i wouldn’t repot until it starts showing signs of stress, like lower leaves yellowing or slower growth. sometimes if the roots get a bit too eager and make their way out of the drainage holes i’ll just prune the stray root(s)

I received a spider plant in a tiny nursery pot in January and I ended up moving her to a bigger pot very shortly afterward because she was stressed, but I kept that pot relatively small (4 inches diameter). So far she seems really happy and has grown a lot in the last 2 months! But, I would definitely follow advice about keeping the plant somewhat rootbound, as I believe that having some...ah... ✨creative boundaries✨has helped my plant stay healthy and thrive.

Got it 😊 I just got a couple plants in the last three days so I am over stressing which I do NOT want to rub off on them

I would check if the roots are root bound which they most likely are if they are coming out of the bottom and repot it in the next size up in a terracotta pot!

Yes repot! Some people will tell you they “like to be pot bound” this isn’t true about any plant. Just don’t put it in a pot too big. Slowly size up the pot as the roots grow to see consistently large foliage. I have done this with many spider plant props I have done & I have been very impressed by their growth & strength
