What’s the word(protocol) on giving your plants a little outdoor time? Most of my houseplants are in east/NE facing windows, so from time to time I bring them to my back patio west/sw but mostly west for a little suntanning and airing out. I try to keep my sensitive babies (calatheas) in a mostly shaded area and my succulent/tougher guys more in the sun. I normally wouldn’t do this for more than an hour at a maximum 2. What’s the general consensus on this?

I leave my plants outside all spring and summer as long as the weather is warm. I’m in zone 9. High temperatures can be an issue. My plants get morning sun and shade from the house or patio cover. I try not to move them in and outside for fear of throwing off the photosynthesis process with irregular lighting and temperature variations. My house is 72°F and outside temps are in the 90° with very high humidity. I just let them get acclimated to a location and leave them. You choose the conditions and locations that make your plants happy.😄

I put all of my plants outside for summer. All of them are on an east facing covered porch and they do great and have lots of growth by September. I’m in zone 5.

So typically they are in the east facing covered porch and then in the summer you bring them outside?
