Hello plant people, I just potted this cutting of ”mini monstera” (rhaphidophora tetrasperma), aka not a true monstera. I got it online, and it wasnt my choice to leave the cutting like this lol. There’s a clear point of growth with a new leaf on the way at the bottom. Is there any point in keeping that big chunky stick? Will it grow new leaves? If not, I might just cut it and propagate it and pop it back in the same pot. :-)

it may eventually grow new leaves, but with new growth at the bottom and seemingly no activated nodes on it (no new buds at all), i'd say it's unlikely. chop it off!

that is a good plan! would you chop it at each node, like one aerial root per cutting? or is that too much 👁️👁️

that may be too much, the cuttings would be too small and would be more likely to rot. i have more success with at least two nodes per cutting.

don't think so. chopping off unnecessary parts can help it focus on it's roots, so it should be fine

I think you should chop it and put it in water. I put just a “stick” in with the rest of my cuttings and it’s not only growing roots but new leaves as well.

Maybe eventually so keep it for a bit and if it doesn’t grow, chop it off
