šŸ’”had a bright idea and picked up this light meter. But… now what?! šŸ˜… Afraid I bit off more than I can chew here, friends. Any tips/tricks on how to use this tool and what to look for as I try to optimize the light for my indoor babies?? TIA!

use ppfd!!! not footcandles or lux. ppfd measures light usable to the plants, not just light we can see. try to place the meter where the leaves of your plant actually sit. light requirements vary by plant but are pretty easy to find online.

Oh ok gtk. Unfortunately I think this model only offer FC or Lux. But makes sense to measure from their leaves. So really just need to look up the ideal for each it sounds like šŸ‘

And check through out the day. You are aiming for light x hours. 3000 foot candles isn't much if it's just for 2 hours.

I like to use it when I’m moving my plants around and comparing the light that they were getting to the light they are going to be receiving. Making sure that the new spot that plant will be in offers the same or better light helps me know the best way to arrange different plants! Also very helpful for grow lights!
