Hello. Everyone always talks about spider plants and propagating but I’m Not sure if mine are too young yet or what do I do with the long stem they come out from? Do I just cut them off or let them keep growing? Also it’s throwing out flowers, am I doing this right 😎🤞🏼Suggestions? Help 🙈

Omg cute! What kind of spider plant is this? I have a curly Bonnie spider plant and it has given me so many babies! I have them propagated all over my house in little glass mushrooms. I just cut them off as they grew because there were so many- that or they got really big and needed to move out of mom’s pot. I usually put them in an area they get good light and I have some that are fully growing in water, and some that I’ve propagated like this and then transferred to soil. Or growing on a wet paper towel under a light, or in a bag on the window. (I know sounds like a science project but works when you have lots to propagate.) I’m pretty positive you can stick them in soil too. I would think the process would be similar for your spider plant too?

I don’t even know which one it is. I just know the nursery said spider plants are there. I grabbed one and was too excited and potted it right away when I got home and been growing stems and flowers and little spider babes left and right. Do u think, from looking at pictures those spider babies are too young to cut off yet?

Personally, I would let them grow bigger. They don’t do well if you cut them off when they’re still so little. They get what they need from that stem until they’re ready. Plus, it’s really cool to see them grow and fill out the main plant. 💚✨🕷️

As for the stem, for my plant I don’t cut it off the main plant until I’ve cut all the babies off.

Welp, you have flowers so you will definitely get seeds! Be patient and those flowers will turn into little green ball type things which will dry up and crack open releasing seeds!
