Should I put this back into a much smaller pot or just leave it alone and keep taking care of it. It’s so pitiful so I’m not sure if the larger pot is doing it or just the transplant alone. I bought it online and it was mailed to me and I put it in this pot because I wanted it to get big. What do you think?
Never plant straight into a decorative pot unless it has drainage holes as you can risk getting root rot, I like to pot mine in a clear pot so I can see and check its root system and the pot size should only be as big as its root system, so that pot looks way too big and your plant is trying to grow roots instead of growing leaves, definitely downsize the pot into a chunky soil mix using coco coir, perlite and orchid bark, calatheas are very fussy aswell so needs high humidity and only give them filtered water/distilled water, no tap water

Agree with brookie98. My prayer plant is growing like crazy and it didn’t take it long to start even after I transplanted it.. it loves its grow light! It literally reaches its leaves toward the light. It’s one that’s never burned from being close to the grow light. Good luck 🍀!

They like to be a bit root bound so it’s likely just focused on roots in that pot versus new top growth yet. Be very careful with overwatering while it adjusts to all that new soil!

You always want to plant in a pot based on the size of the existing root ball, not what you want it to fill out. You should always do 2” larger than the root ball.

While I agree that best practice would have been to use a smaller pot, as long as the pot has drainage and your soil is also very loose and well draining, and it has good light, it will be fine. It just won’t put out new leaves for a while as it focuses on roots. But once it switches back to leaves it will probably explode, which is super fun 🤩. If you have any concerns about drainage or are at the lower end of it’s preferred light level (or just don’t want to wait for new leaves😂) then moving it to a smaller pot is the right call. Otherwise, no need. Keep in mind that if you do move it again, it will still probably be a while til you see new leaves anyway. Also since it looks like only 1-2 stems, if you want it to fill a larger pot, you’ll need to be chopping and propping new stems back into the pot to fill it up, so now you have plenty of room to do that 🤷🏼♀️
