Have you ever had an indoor plant you just didn’t like? What did you do with it? I have two spider plants I planted outside at the beginning of spring and they are doing well. Yesterday I moved a raindrop peperomia outside because I just didn’t have room for it inside and I feel terrible saying it but I just didn’t like it. I have one that I love but this one was just taking up space. I had ordered it online to get free shipping with some other plants and I was disappointed in how it looks, and it never improved. I feel a bit guilty!

Omg this is so validating! I’ve totally done the same thing of planting plants outside. I’ve also left them for free at my work or outside my house with a sign and people totally pick em up!

Once you’ve been in the hobby for a long time, this feeling of guilt will go away. I have done this a LOT over the years and it’s actually a great mental exercise to go through a plant audit now and then. It can even be meditative. No sense in caring for a plant that’s not doing anything for you, because then neither one of you are happy. Then you resent the hobby which is not what you want. Just remember, they’re not pets or people, though we tend to think of them that way. I’ve done a variety of things. I used to offer plants to family and friends, but now they have so many that they don’t want any more 😂. Sometimes I’ll put a bunch of plants out on the sidewalk for passers by to take. Or I’ll just compost them and be done with them. At least then, they will nourish the soil in the future. No shame in living your joy how you see fit 😊

I felt like that with my majesty palm. I was happy when it got spider mites because that made it ok to throw away.

Haha yes I almost look for excuses to get rid of ones I don’t like.

I was gifted a large cactus and it's been a problem child. It very quickly got super heavy, and sent a branch out sideways that would poke me any time i needed to move it. It also trapped water in a weird way such that it rotted and was so thick that i had to use a saw to cut it for propping. I do like him enough to keep a smaller part of him, but now i have an abundance of cacti to find homes for

LOL that he would poke you! That was a good way to handle him.
