3 Snake Plant questions I could use help on please: 1) is this prop ready to be planted? 2) if yes to #1 question then what size pot should I start with (I know they like to be root bound)? 3) is it safe to spray an already prepared neem oil spray directly on snake plant leaves? Thanks for any help!

    1. no, i like my roots to be a few inches long before i plant. she needs a little more time in the oven 2. when she is ready, the pot should only be a couple inches larger then the rootball 3. i love neem oil for my plants, however i’ve never misted or sprayed anything on my snake plants (one of them just flowered for me too) so i’m not the person to say anything about it:) happy planting!!!

Thanks for the reply! Silly follow up question but if the pot is to be so small (approx 2” in diameter) then how is best to support it so it doesn’t tip over?

i honestly would put it in more of a 4” terracotta container. snake plants are forgiving and the terracotta will help the soil dry out faster, and also weigh her down.

I had sprayed succulents with neem oil before. Not a good idea. Burned the jade plant and made a few burns on the snake plant when I sprayed them only once and kept them out of the light for the rest of the day. Are you doing this to get rid of the pests?

The neem oil is more of a preventative as I have something building small webs (just strings, not full webs) across the tops and Asian lady beetles and stink bugs occasionally like to hang out on a leave, but not often. I’m not currently seeing any pests besides the webs though!

neem oil can burn plants, it is important to have the proper ratio to dilute it:)

Spider mites, when making webs, look like a film, if that makes sense because there are a lot of webbings. Also, the webs are tiny, because they can’t produce big spider webs like the regular spiders. So if you saw a couple of webs that’s probably just some house spiders. For pest prevention on succulents, I would recommend using insecticidal soap. At first, spray the soap on one spot and leave it. Check in a day or two. If there is no damage - you can spray the whole plant, if there is some then dilute the soap. Also definitely dilute the soap when you are spraying succulents with farina. Diluted soap recipe that chatGPT wrote for me: Mix 1 teaspoon of insecticidal soap with 64 oz of water Oh, and also, the last thing, when you spray any plant - don't give them light after. Wait until it's dry, or better put them back into the light the next day.
