How do you know if a plant is over or under watered? I have these two plants and I am watering them according to planta’s recommendations, however I feel I am over watering them, especially because I have to mist them like every other day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I don’t mist any of my plants, I heard misting works for like 30 seconds. Also, you should not follow any strict watering schedule. Always check the soil. I use Planta as a reminder to check my plants. Everyone’s houses (light, temperature, etc) is different, so Planta could put your plants at risk.

I agree. Always check the soil first either with your finger or wood skewer. Better to underwater than overwater. I don’t mist either. Good luck🪴

I fully agree. So, many factors impact watering frequency. Check soil first. I've heard it's easier for most plants to recover from underwater than overwatering. Root rot is difficult to recover from - we've all have done it.

I have good luck with misting a couple of my plants…my prayer plant especially was doing very poorly until I started misting and she’s stunning now…however we literally just put a humidifier in that room tonight so I’m going to hold off and see how they do going forward. I also have learned it’s better to water less but I have mostly succulents so they are happy to be thirsty.

I too have had success misting certain plants (ponytail palm, arrowhead, tinke rubber plant, peace lily). I don’t have a humidifier on my plants so I mist occasionally. As for the watering, I totally agree to always check the soil first and use the app as a reminder. You can snooze the watering task and check it again later.

Some will disagree, but if you are not sure about making the decision to water or not, get a moisture meter to check the soil. If you delay (snooze) a watering task, the app will adapt the schedule for that plant. Also adapts if you water early. Make sure the info you added for your plant is correct. With your current plants, the scindaptus does look overwatered.

I totally feel this. Whenever I am having trouble with a plant, I get as many saying the plant looks over watered as under watered 🤷‍♀️ Can’t help you there, but I do agree to wet on the side of under watering. I do mist and I think it makes a difference, but I don’t think it waters them. Does that make sense?

The planta app is not always accurate especially when it comes to misting plants. Some plants love the mist and some don’t. Like everyone stated in their comments check the soil first because most plant soil holds moisture and you don’t have to water often. I have killed a lot of plants over watering.

I have had 2 of my plants for years and only watered them like once a week to two weeks and they have been fine and the app tells me to water them less or more and it has. It worked out great for me so I went back to what has worked for years for me.

I use planta as a guide or reminder to check my plants. I rarely go by the water schedule. Stick your finger in the soil and check that way

Use a moisture meter they are inexpensive and easy to use as a second opinion
