Just wanted to show off my cutie šŸ¤! If anyone has any tips on keeping string of turtles thriving in the winter let me knowwww. I sadly have limited sunlight space in my apartment so it does need to stay close to my window.

Agreed. Use a toothpick or bamboo skewer to test that the soil is completely dry before watering it. Mine is currently under grow lights, because if there’s one thing peperomias don’t like, it’s the cold, so I pulled mine from the windowsill. Don’t repot it if you don’t have to, cause they DO NOT enjoy having their roots fooled with, especially in the colder months. If you ever have to repot it, try not to disturb any exposed roots, keep it snug in its pot, and just add some chunky cactus mix to fill it in when putting it in a bigger pot. If you want it to work on new leaves instead of flowers, snip the flowers off so the plant can expend its energy towards new foliage instead. Hope this helps! 😊

Last tip! Cover any exposed roots in Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder during repottings. It’ll help it recover faster from any possible shock from the repot and help it grow new roots.

AHHH thank you! It’s still very much a baby but is growing quicker than I expected so I was getting nervous about repotting since I know many plants are nottt very happy about going into new homes.

I’d definitely wait until the spring or summer before repotting it if you don’t have to. And this type of peperomia really does do best when remaining snug in their pot and getting a little rootbound between repottings. Also helps lower the risk of overwatering it. Even if it isn’t in the best type of soil atm, keeping it in a smaller pot will help lower the overwatering risk, even if it takes a little longer to dry out between waterings in the current soil. It looks great so far! Keep up the good work! šŸ˜‰ šŸ‘

I got very lucky finding mine at a local market so it didn’t cost anything too crazy. I will say it’s been one of the easiest plants I’ve ever taken care of.
