What do you do with a large snake plant? I mean one that takes up more space then you now have room for because it’s so tall? Just a curious question. For those with limited space.

I’ve seen people chop the leaves to the height they want the plant and them propagate the cuttings to make the snake plant denser

Snake plants are the one plant you can’t cut from the top and it still look pleasant. I guess it could be cut into a tip but I think the give away and start over might be best. 😞

I’m not an avid snake plant person, I definitely didn’t see how the cut portion of the plant was doing after they trimmed it like that so you’re probably right in that not being a good route for it. Maybe give some of it a haircut to propagate the cuttings for yourself and give the rest away?

Could you do a lot of cuttings at the midpoint of the leaves and the. Propagate those to start a new shorter plant?

I have given plants away that were to big to handle in my space. It is kinda hard but the people are happy and I'm happy so its a win win!!

Yes, same - I’m fighting myself right now to donate a manjula- it’s just too much for my space - I’ll eventually do cuttings and give the rest away.

I’m not familiar with that plant, but man oh man does that look a lil strange. I know that’s probably normal for that though 😂

I just cut my snake plant when she got too tall for my space, but I get it if you don’t like the look. I personally really like how she looks now but to each their own

Kinda had a similar issue, I recently chopped/propped a few leaves that were getting tall almost 3 feet, but were very thin, while the main plants were half that height and wide. The browned top/ends don't fully blend in, but they aren't too noticeable either. So, maybe just chop the taller ones. I also read something about pinching/cutting the tip stops that leaf from growing taller.

You’re right about the pinching the tops! Once a leaf loses its pointy tip, it will never grow more. So to control height, just pinch each leaf when you want it to stop :) I like to see how tall I can get mine lol. I measured today and I’m up to 4.5 feet on the tallest!
