Hello! Not gonna do it just yet since I didn’t get them that long ago, but I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of pot I should get when I repot this String of Pearls? I don’t want to get one that’s too big or too small. Nursery pot is around 2 inches across. Thanks in advance!

You usually only want to size up 1-2" and id make sure it's not terracotta as it'd keep them too dry.

They have very shallow roots so water lightly because their roots are not deep at all and so the soil doesn’t stay too wet for long.

I cannot stress this enough! Make sure you have a shallower pot! The main reason string of pearls die is because the pot is too large. They don’t have very long roots so opting for a shallower pot is always best. Definitely have drainage.

I wonder, if it would work, to grow string of pearls in a shallow dish of semi hydro, since in the wild they seem to be pebble rock crawling type of succulents… šŸ¤”

😮 That’s a really neat idea! I may just have to try it!

Right? Oooo! Do let me know if you try it, I’m thinking of trying that this spring, the only type of growing method I haven’t tried with string of pearls

I will for sure! I definitely think I will wait to try it until spring as well.

I suggest a clear plastic pot (which can easily be put inside a decorative one if desired) I have my SOP in one and it’s really easy to tell when the soil is fully dry and prevents overwatering. Also I just love watching the little roots grow 🄰
