Master Oogway is a gorgeous string of turtles. He is so full, dense and bushy that I can’t get my finger into the soil to test if he should be watered without breaking off some turtles. I can’t even easily get a chopstick into the soil. It’s too soon to repot him since he just arrived. Any ideas or tips for caring for him? Also, does anyone else feel downright terrible when they accidentally damage or break off a leaf?

It’s looks very full so repotting now wouldn’t be a problem. If you don’t want to repot you can try to stick a chopstick in the bottom watering holes of your pot, it isn’t perfect but it should work. I also feel very bad whenever I hurt my plant. I thought it was just me lol.

Haha I use the sticky yellow gnat traps and occasionally one sticks to a leaf and tears it. I feel like a monster when that happens. Thank you, putting a stick through the drainage hole is a great idea!
