   I am definitely not a fan of them. And the reason is the plastic of them. In reality all plants all come down to 4 things used in combination: soil, pot type, water, & light. You could have a clear glass pot with drainage and coarse cactus mix and still drown a plant because the glass is not porous. It does not breath or help to bring in moisture which could also aid in cooling the plant. Plastic to me just does not breath or help when it comes to watering. And I know some will say pot in a pot method. But then doesn’t that break the design of “self watering”? Self watering is nothing more than… - Here’s some extra water. If you get dry whisk some up this string. Otherwise I’ll be back to water you in x number of days when I do all the plants. - I mean is it any different than the glass bulbs you’d fill with water and insert into the soil? Or the water bottle trick?

     I’ve definitely noticed that a few of my plants do not do well with even thin plastic nursery pots. The rubber plant soil (all peat) takes forever to get dry. I plan on remedying this soon! Terracotta pots with drainage are my fav. And I’ve noticed that all-purpose soil does not dry out except with small pots. Lots of food for thought! Though I love fiddling with my plants, it’s nice to have some that are very low-maintenance. And I’m not afraid of killing a few while figuring it all out. Lol. 😅

   I don’t like self watering what so ever since it put one of mine into shock when I repotted it. He’s doing good now but I’m never getting another wick and grow not until it dries out completely when I get it to wait to repot. But I hope you don’t have the same problem that i did with a wick and grow!
