Hey guys I recently got this philo for free and noticed it had meelie bugs. Been spraying with dawn dish soap water on the leafs and stems till I get neem oil. But I’m lowkey scared it will spread to all my babies. I’m debating on leaving it outside to freeze the bugs off or cutting off all the leafs? What should I do?
theres a chance freezing the bugs off will also damage the plant - try isopropl alchohol and q tips if you have that. as for making sure that it doesnt spread, isolate it as best as possible. if that means putting it in a trash bag for now, go for it. best of luck!

Yes. I’ve seen a lot of people who damaged their plants during the winter just from bringing the plant from the store to their car and from their car into their house.

0 Me gustaI would definitely not put it outside for any amount of time. Just put it in a bathroom or somewhere you don’t have plants. The alcohol on Q-tips is a good tip!

Be careful with dawn, it's a detergent, not making insecticidal soap. Neem is also not great against mealie bugs. Definitely isolated the plant and wipe down the surface it was on with 70% alcohol. And use the alcohol swab techniques talked about above. Even if you cut all the leaves off, you'd still need to deal with it, as they will just go into the soil.
1 me gusta Alright I’ll def repot her next paycheck. Inspected the plant today and no other leafs have any meelie bugs. Hoping I caught it quick enough.
