These guys like light and LOVE water… so if the app tells you to water every other couple of days, that’s accurate. Sometimes I just put water in the bottom saucer and let that be the watering for the day… But I always water when the app says too. Drying out means an almost certain death for these plants. I have one of these and also the pink one. So pretty!

Is the flower in the picture Is it where the new leafs are gonna grow or is it gonna start to flower?

It’s hard to tell, that might just be a leaf? Hard to tell in the picture though but they do get flowers so it’s possible to flower? It looks healthy!

They are drama queens for sure. I had a pink one that reverted to green because it wasn't getting enough light. So very bright indirect like and never let it dry out!!

I do want to wait to see because everyone says that they will show you once they need water

I wouldn’t, when they show you then that’s when it’s wilted and they have a very, very hard time bouncing back. They will eventually, but let them wilt one to many times and they’ll never look the same as when you first purchased it.

That’s a “flower.” Meaning biologically that’s how it functions, but aesthetically it won’t look like much. Nurseries just trim them off so the plant doesn’t waste energy on them. I’ve had fittonias for years. Mine have never needed water as frequently as the app says they do, especially in the summer. It is fascinating if/when they dry out enough to wilt. Once it hits that tipping point, the actual wilting happens fast. Then water and it will rebound within hours. A couple times of this isn’t a big deal, but I would not do it chronically as your sign to water it, because it will be too stressful on the plant and make it unhealthy.

Also they are a ground cover plant. It will inch out and grow sideways, not reaching up much. Eventually as it gets old, the center leaves will die off and it will look bald and stretched out. You can pinch off new baby leaves in order to encourage growth at the center. It has a strong scent when you do this, reminds me of cucumbers.

Omg do not let it dry out! She’ll fall flat! They do great in terrarium setups

Water, water, water!! That’s my only advice! Except get him a pink lady same species as he is. They make a spectacular pair!
