Just picked up my first monstera from Facebook marketplace and I get it in two weeks… my parents are caring for it until I get there and I think they’re killing it 😭😭😭 what’s the best care to help save it for two weeks? I think they’ve overwatered it and might be too close to a window? Sun sets in this window and they said the leaves are starting to curl… they’ve had it two days… I need help before they kill it!!

It could just be shock at moving location. Ask them not to water it again while they have it. How much sun does the window get? Monsteras like a lot of sun, but if it’s been in a shadier place previously, it could be shock. I think you have to let it be while it’s with your parents, and then give it lots of tlc when you collect it.

It gets a decent amount of indirect light but not direct

Definitely repot you might want to look at the roots. You might have to wash them and also do not have it in the direct sunlight only indirect.

I told my parents to move it to a window with sheer curtains or not too much direct sun coming through!

Monsteras can actually do pretty well with a few hours of direct sun a day. As long as it’s not sitting directly in a south facing window, they tend to do really well with bright light

monstera can thrive in a south facing window with bright, direct sun all day if they are properly acclimated. you’ll get the fastest growth with the most light as well ☀️

curling leaves are typically due to dry air or soil. if the media is wet, the roots could be rotting, preventing the plant from being able to “drink” from the soil. if all the media in the pot is mostly dry, it should be watered, but if it’s wet it may need to be repotted. i would just leave it for a few days and see how things change. the plant is probably already probably in shock from the move so it is better to minimize changes.
