Does anyone know about well water? I don't always have rain water for my picky plants and I'm wondering how well water (straight from the ground) comparares to municipal water.

Each well can be different but in general it is ok for plants. If your plant is sensitive to minerals be careful. I think it is the chlorine and Floride that caused the most problems in city water.

It does depend on the plant. I’ve that calatheas are actually sensitive to lime, not so much with chlorine or chlorimine.

It's really particular to each well. They usually have dissolved minerals. Some that are inert, and some that could bother some plants. Depending on where you live, you can get your water tested to see what is dissolved in it before you use it for watering. My aunt and uncle use well water on indoor plants and garden, and have no issue. But I don't think they have any super sensitive plants

I would try to catch rain water… or treat your well water like tap water ( use the fish tank additive)
