Question about an outdoor tree I bought about two years ago. It's an inaba shidare Japanese maple. Pretty much since I've gotten it, at least as long as I can remember...it stays mostly green and gets really red at the tips of the branches. It's on a southwest facing corner of our porch. So it really gets mostly southern light from about I don't know 11 or 12pm for a minimum of 6 hours. Why is it doing this? Also...tips for pruning this, as it definitely needs pruned this winter, it's all over the ground a little more than what I want.

I don’t have pruning tips but I believe this tree is supposed to be red.

Yes that is what my post is about. Why is it not red?

It could be the variety or it could be the amount of sun in its location. I read early morning sun and late day shade. So many variables to consider

Hmm. I'll have to call the nursery where I bought it and ask them. The first year, now that I remember it was like a burgundy brownish color. Never really got real red, which it's supposed to. It would be very hard to move it though at this point, it has gotten so big..would probably damage it. I've read all different things and don't really know what to go by. I know a house nearby that has the same kind...I'll have to check to see if there's is green...there tree is east facing.
