Hi- I’m very new to plants, and my pink princess philodendron came in a self watering pot. From what I’ve been looking at online it sounds like this could cause problems? The very tips of the plants are becoming slightly crisp, and I have them in eastern lighting which I think they prefer. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the club! I luv self watering pots, they aren’t automatically a problem, but the soil still needs to stay airy and not constantly soggy. Pink Princess likes bright indirect light, and eastern light is usually great. Crispy tips can also come from low humidity, inconsistent watering, or mineral/salt buildup, so I’d check how wet the soil stays before changing anything.

Mine is still in the self watering pot it came in, sits in an east facing window, and is doing quite well. I just make sure to let her dry out enough between waterings.

I have a philodendron in a self watering from costa farms and it’s been doing wonderfully in there. I top water with diluted fertilizer every time it runs empty and the soil dries, not just when it’s empty!
