Could you post a picture of them, and what soil you use for your houseplants? Some companies will have seeds or spores inside of their soil that pass through inspection, usually grass or a little weed. I use peat moss because I grow a lot of Carnivorus plants, and I get huge grass shoots from it. Mushroom time compost has tons of spores in it so I get mushrooms sometimes. I’ve even noticed some strange clover looking things growing from my pots as well, but I pay them no mind. Usually should be harmless from what I understand

Sterilizing the soil before potting it would stop the seeds. Moisten the soil and put it in a baking pan. Bake for 30 min at 200 degrees F. The soil itself should reach a temp of 180 degrees F. Make sure it’s completely cool before putting a plant in it. This method will eliminate bacteria, kill insects, and cook any seeds in it. Alternatively, you could do a thin layer of clean sand or fine gravel on top of the soil. Should help keep seeds in the soil from sprouting, but doesn’t necessarily stop bugs or bacteria. Which method depends on what works for you and your plant :)
