I just got this rose yesterday at a birthday party. I got 2 of them and I am really new to roses in general. I want them to last as long as posible but how? I live i Minnesota and it is March right now. The app says I should put it where it gets the most sunlight so I put it on the windowsill. Can anyone help? This is one of the roses. The other one is the same but white.

My daughter buys them for me every year and I have them in a pot in the yard out back in SW exposure and they love it out there! They say it’s best to grow them outside but I can keep it blooming indoors until I get motivated to take it outside. They need 6-8 hours of sunlight every day and you have to keep the soil moist and I give it some fertilizer after I prune the old flowers and leaves off. I’m trying Schultz African Violet plus this year just 4 drops per quart/.5 liter of zero clean water šŸ’¦ lol Good luck šŸ€ PS, I’m in zone 8 of SE Virginia

I 2nd DanishGramma, they like nice bright light and are thirstier than one would think. If it's still cold where you are, I'd wait till it warms up before taking them outside. But I have a friend who keeps 3 indoors, and never takes them out.

Stick your finger in the pot every week and water when it feels almost dry

I’ve got mine in a west window with a really wide view of the sky, I water when she’s pretty much dry, and she seems to be doing okay. I only got her on Valentine’s, though, and don’t usually grow roses indoors. I can grow a rose anywhere in ground, but I’m not super familiar with potted ones. I’ll be putting her in a glazed porcelain pot and sticking her outside once the weather stays above 40 at night. Last year I had one in terra cotta, had a baby at the beginning of August and neglected the rose for about a week. It very died. There was no bringing it back. Hopefully glazed porcelain will prevent it from drying out so hard so quick.

I would also check to see if there are multiple rose bushes in the pot. I got one from my local grocery store and it came with 3 mini bushes that I divided. I water and prune mine about every 1.5-2 weeks, but I’m out in Southern California.
