I have a question for the community. I've been using a double prong meter (left side of picture) for years. I never used it to determine the pH or sunlight. I only used it for soil moisture. For whatever reason, I decided to buy a new meter, a single prong (right side of picture) to measure only soil moisture. The single prong always gives me a high moisture reading indicating I don't need to water the plant. This is an unusual reading for me. I decided to double-check this reading with the two prong & I get a reading of zero moisture. Which one is right?

    Put your finger on the soil going a few cms down. What does the soil feel like? Wet? Dry? You can compare your finger sensation to the moisture meter results to make up your mind in which one you think is more accurate. In my opinion, you might even just use your finger and forego the moisture meters altogether

    When I'm double checking my meter i use a chop stick or wooden skewer.

    Yes I always double check with my finger. Especially if the reading feels off and you know how your plants typically operate.

    I was going to say the same thing. I always check my moisture indicator sticks that I leave in the plants and when they turn white, which means the soil is dry, I put my finger in to make sure but it’s pretty accurate. Once in a while, I will wait an extra day, but for the most part it works. I guess if you do this got a white you’ll get familiar with your moisture indicators and your different plants.
