I have a Melo alocasica. I saw this on it. I’m not sure it’s a flower or what? The plant doing great I’m not concerned, but I didn’t know what to do about it. Thank you in advance.

Yes, that is an inflorescence. You can choose to leave it or cut it

Thank you Tanya. Is there a pro or con on keeping it?
0 Me gustaI’ve heard that leaving it on will divert energy to the flower rather than the foliage, but idk if it’s true. The inflorescence is a sign of a happy healthy plant, so I would say it mainly comes down to personal preference whether to leave it on or not
1 me gustaI agree it's a flower. Alocasia flowers are interesting to see but they're not overly beautiful. I can take them or leave them.
1 me gustaIf you keep the flower energy will go into the flower production followed by seed production. If you remove the flower the energy will go into the foliage.
