I found these in my succulent/cactus today. Popped up seemingly from nowhere. Should I be concerned for my plants? My cat could potentially get to this plant, do I need to worry for my cat? I removed them, but wondering for the future. Can I avoid this in the future?

Does your pot have drainage? Your succulent to the right looks like it’s rotting. Mushrooms may mean good things to some soil, but they are potential death to cacti and succulents because it means your soil is staying wet for too long. They need well draining, dry soil before you water them.

That helps a lot. It does have drainage. But I may have overwatered it. Could it possibly be because it is in the bathroom humidity (with good airflow)?

Is it in full, direct sun? They don’t need humidity to thrive.

Just let the soil dry completely before watering again. Overwatering is certain death for these guys.

A soil that stays wet for over a day usually means too big of a pot, no drainage hole, wrong soil, no airflow, or watered too soon. That will definitely cause root rot in succulents. The humidity in the bathroom could be keeping the dirt too damp too.

Maybe put it somewhere high just in case it’s toxic.

Yeah that’s the plan. My 🐈‍⬛s safety comes first!
