Any recommendations/links to soil pest control? Just had a dormant colony of ants wake up in a new plant I brought home. I’ve seen water soluable drops that you can water your plants with, but can’t find a good product.

You should repot the plant. If you’re going to put it outside to keep ants away I like to keep it elevated on those rolling trays with ventilation and sticky fly traps around the entirety of the pot.
1 j'aimeThanks! I repotted and cleaned off the roots, but I’m just paranoid I missed just enough to start a new colony lol. Gave me an excuse to separate the plant so now I have two Alocasia Maharani

Aw nice ❤️ I think watering your plants with a mix of rubbing alcohol and water (30 alcohol 70 water) will get rid of the last ants if they’re even there
0 J'aimeI would absolutely never recommend watering a plant with alcohol. That is super bad for the roots. Using alcohol to control pests is done by making a mix with water and spraying it on the leaves, not getting it on the roots.

Wait really? I’ve been watering my plants with isopropyl alcohol to get rid of fungus gnats…
0 J'aimeOmg nooo 😂 for fungus gnats you want a 1:3 hydrogen peroxide/water solution

Murphy’s oil soap (diluted with water) will kill the ants quickly and won’t harm the plant.
