Okay so I posted this a few days ago, in the Plant Recovery Group, and got absolutely NO response so I’m going to try again…. Can anyone help? This is my besties plant and she’s asked me for advice (she thinks I’m a horticulturist/botanist since having Planta lol 😂) The leaf dropping has happened since having decorators in her house but I’m leaning towards it being, possibly, overwatered. Could a change in temperature affect it (she’s had her windows replaced last week)? Also, could anyone also tell us exactly what plant it is. Are Dragon trees Yuccas 🤷🏻‍♀️ TIA 🙏🏼

They drop leaves sometimes when the season changes and/or definitely a water issue

Thanks for replying… does she need to cut the tops off the bare ends? Or cut it back at all?

She thinks the decorators have knocked it somehow and maybe that’s why the leaves all fell off 🤷🏻‍♀️

There is another group called “pests, diseases and problems” and I get a fair amount of help and response from this thread. You can always contact Planta admin directly if Dr Planta AI doesn’t help. FYI.

I’d have to add the plant to my collection to ask Planta and I have checked Google too but I thought I’d ask the community for advice. Thanks anyway 🙏🏼

Yes, that corner gets a good amount of light.

Dracaena reflexa, related to yucca but not the same species. They are sensitive to over watering so it might be a good idea to pull it out of the pot and check for root rot. Also can be sensitive to tap water, filtered may be best. They also don’t like being under watered… Decorators may have damaged it. cold weather from the windows being replaced probably had something to do with it too.

I’d trim the tops of these off to promote new growth. It will probably take a while until you see budding,

I’ll probably have to go round to her house, with my secateurs, and tackle it myself but THIS ☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼is what I was thinking 🤔

How’s the would feel??? If it’s pretty moist might need to repot with less moist soil. I accidentally blocked my drainage holes and it couldn’t dry out.

I’m going through a checklist with my bestie but she’s not very green fingered so I might have to get myself over the other side of London to her house and try to figure it out 😊
