Hi! I have a question about something that isn’t a huge issue but I just have had so much trouble figuring it out without asking someone with experience. My ficus is healthy but not growing. I recently repotted it, and although it may have been too soon, the pot wasn’t drastically bigger than the original. My basic question is whether I should leave it alone or try to pinch off the “new” growths pictured, which aren’t actually new. The ficus has looked as pictured for about a month now, I’d say. You can see the updates on the plant’s profile if needed too! Thank you anyone who takes the time to help!

If you upsized at all when you repotted, it’s possible it’s just focused on growing new roots to fill the space instead of putting out new growth right now. In my experience, ficuses are pretty finicky about being disturbed at all, they’ll clam up a bit after the change and then get back to growing once they’ve adjusted. I personally wouldn’t pinch anything off just yet.

Agreed. I would let it do its thing and make sure it’s getting as much light as possible.

I agree with you. I have many Ficus trees, Audrey, FiddleLeaf Fig, Rubber Tree etc. Ficuses will throw a tantrum if you disturb its environment. Plus they prefer to be root bound a bit. So right now it’s just acclimating to its new home and protesting. 😁

    Propagating definitely incourages plant growth

This specific ficus thrives outside partial sun more shade. Mine is huge she’s doing the best outdoors even though I wanted her to be an indoor plant.

i’ve seen that because my neighbor has a HUGE one going on the side of their house, and they luckily have a nice area that’s south facing and it’s thriving. unfortunately i live in phx and the summers are i think too hot for this baby, even in the shade

also i am fostering my mom’s rubber tree, same variety, and it’s in the same exact place and doing well, so that’s what made me go hmmm 🧐

Also this one REALLY appreciates a shower every now and then. Clean his/her leaves and don’t let dirt and or dust build up too much on them it prevents them from absorbing light this is a photo I took of her before I gave her a bath a couple days ago. She stands at 5 feet tall in a 25 inch pot. Her name is Farrah Fawn Ficus lol
