The **Flaming Katy** (*Kalanchoe blossfeldiana*) is a type of Kalanchoe, known for its vibrant clusters of flowers and glossy green leaves. It’s a popular indoor plant due to its bright colors and easy care. The color variation and the drying flowers are common for this plant. Older flowers will naturally darken and dry out, while newer blooms may appear in slightly different shades as they open. To help your Flaming Katy thrive, here are some tips specific to this plant: ### Care Tips for Flaming Katy: 1. **Light**: - Place it in **bright, indirect sunlight**. It can tolerate some direct sunlight but avoid too much, as it can cause the leaves to scorch. 2. **Watering**: - Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Flaming Katy prefers a **drier environment**, so be cautious not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. 3. **Deadheading**: - Remove the faded or dead flowers to encourage new blooms and keep the plant looking tidy. Simply pinch or cut the spent blooms at the base of the flower stem. 4. **Temperature**: - Keep the plant in a **moderate temperature range** (65-75°F). Avoid cold drafts or placing it near heat sources like radiators. 5. **Fertilizer**: - During the growing season (spring and summer), feed the plant with a **balanced liquid fertilizer** once a month. You can skip feeding during the winter months when the plant is not actively growing. With a bit of care and attention, your **Flaming Katy** will continue to bloom beautifully! The new growth and flowers will keep adding vibrant color to your space.
