I follow all the care plans that are scheduled each day and yet all my plants are dying

I’ve learned that Planta may not do a good job estimating schedules at the start. You’ll need to learn how your plants look when they’re thirsty (droopy leaves, dry soil, etc) and snooze Planta until they look that way. You’re likely overwatering right now (used to happen to me all the time!)

But the soil is so dry, but yes, the leaves are droopy

I set custom schedules, are you sure your soil isn’t hydrophobic

What does that mean? I think it’s all purpose potting soil.

I use custom schedules because plantas schedules were generally too long for my plants. Some people say planta tells them to water too often. You just have to learn how to tell whe your plants need water instead of going by planta.

Planta’s watering schedule can leave your plants too dry or too wet because the software doesn’t know every variable in your environment that can affect your plants. You have to check the soil’s moisture and use your judgement. Water when the soil is dry and verify with your finger, a wooden meat skewer, chopstick inserted in the soil and verify with the plant before watering again. Some plants wither, get wrinkles, thin or folded and scrolled leaves. Photos?

That stinks. It’s the primary reason I got the app. Thank you for the information

No app can completely know your environment unless you have video and feedback sensors in the soil/room sending environmental/plant data back to the plant app. That would be a scientific project and very expensive.

I’m embarrassed to send photos, but will because I’m honestly trying to learn how to treat them the best

Don’t be embarrassed, we’ve all been there. That’s how we learn. 😊

In addition to the app not being ideal I have found my plants are much more successful since I’ve been bottom watering. It takes longer but they’re happier for me that way

How do you bottom water? Maybe that is what I need to do.

Bottom watering is done by setting the pot in a tray/container of water until the water wicks its way to the top soil. Then, remove the pot to let the excess water fully drain. Bottom watering allows the soil to fully saturate before take away the water. Top watering can miss several parts of the soil as water runs past super dehydrated spots.

You need to add photos of each plant so the community can help determine what’s wrong. It’s typically a watering issue, too little light, messing with the plant while it’s still adjusting to the new environment or low fertilizer.

I live in an apartment so I don’t get to work my plants outside so I use my sinks and tub. Fill to about 1/2 of the height of the pot and let soak 10-30 mins depending on how much water the plant likes/needs.

Plant is good but not the most reliable
