Can someone help me with my arrowhead? I repotted it on Saturday last week and watered it before going on a trip to AZ. She’s been in the same spot for sun for the last 3 years. Is she overwatered? How do I save her, she used to stand up more proud. A friend gave her to me three years ago as a housewarming gift and I’m afraid of her dying!

If you didn't water her til water came out the drain holes she probably needs a deep drink. Mine is thirsty during a repot and winter watering is more scarce than normal

I watered it until it drained from the drainage ports and the soil is still slightly damp to the touch under an inch or so.

Looks like one of those pot where the base is attached to the pot. (I hate those pots lol) At least that’s what I think of when you say drainage “ports” and the can be tricky because while it may seem to have completely drained it could have actually still not fully drained and therefore could have been sitting in water at the bottom of the pot in the attached base. Even the soil looks pretty wet still. I don’t know how long your trip was but potentially it could have been sitting in water that whole time. I’d double check moving forward. But that being said it still seems old that she is completely slumped over like that. Looks like something was sitting on it. Either way check the roots and make sure it dries out before watering again.

Repotting is stressful. But, it should be back to normal if it has been over a week since repotting. It doesn’t look too dry. Since, no yellowing or drying leaves. It could be too much water. If so, you will see the leaves start to yellow. I would wait another week and see if the plant changes. You may have to let the soil dry out or replace with dry soil if it is an overwatering problem. The other possibility is the plant was not pushed down enough and the soil around it is not compressed enough to hold it upright. Water made the soil softer allowing the plant to topple over. It’s a guess. Check if the plant is toppled and not only gone limp. Please, upload a picture in a week with status on the plant’s condition. This is a curious one. 🍀🪴

Hi Sunny, It hasn’t been a full week but I moved her to the brightest spot in my house (a kitchen window with full eastern sun for about 6 hours a day). Her soil is certainly more dry (still damp-ish to the touch a few inches down). I trimmed off 4 leaves that had died (stems were browning and had no structure) but a few of her leaves have regained some stiffness. Still sad.

Syngoniums can’t take full sun! They need filtered sunlight or bright indirect lighting or they will sunburn. That can make them go limp. You can take the plant out of the pot a few hours to dry out the soil faster. Let the soil dry completely after watering. Standard potting soil like Miracle Gro is too muddy. Syngoniums like a fast draining mix. You may need to add perlite or similar aggregate to increase drainage.

Hi Sunny, I moved her out of that window (it’s not nearly as direct as it looks as my neighbors house blocks the direct sun) and removed her from the pot. The roots were actually in great shape, they were still very firm and white, I didn’t find any mushy spots or dead spots to her. I mixed in some perlite to her soil to help with drainage and put her back. I’m now going to leave her alone for the next few weeks and hope she kicks through it.

That’s great! Keep her in the bright light since direct sun is blocked. Post an update in a month. I’m interested in how she recovers. Good luck. 😁🍀🪴
