Okay, so I’ve got a few things going on here: My all time fave plant, this little tradescantia was growing so fast and healthy but recently I’ve seen some yellowing leaves at the base of the plant and also some shrivelling, dried new growth. Any ideas? Next I have this prayer plant. She’s not looking too hot now but in the summer she had a ton of new growth. When the heating came on though she lost a lot of leaves before I figured out how to help, so she’s bear bare now. Anyone know how to get a fuller maranta? She does have one new leaf coming but it’s been like this for at least 2 weeks with out unfurling. What’s happening?! Finally my peace Lilly has lots of new leaves but also some permanently yellow ones. Anyone know why this is? Thank you so much, I know there is a lot here but any help is greatly appreciated!! x

if it’s only been happening in the past couple weeks, and you’ve changed nothing else; then it could just be the winter time. yellowing/dying leaves are normal

Mine gets some unhealthy leaves here and there and I just pick them off to keep the energy going to the healthy leaves!

You could probably do the same for the peace Lily as well. I always take off any leaves on my plants that aren’t doing well to avoid the nutrients going to those leaves instead of the healthy ones.

I couldn’t answer for the other two but my prayer plant struggled when winter hit and I switched to using a mixture of liquid fertilizer and distilled water… they are a naturally a rainforest plant and can be sensitive to different chemicals in tap water. I attached a picture of mine now having made the switch.

Yes some yellowing of leaves is normal, although I would be careful not to overwater as well as no tap water. (Use a couple of drops of water conditioner for fish if you are using city tap water). Lack of humidity in the winter seems to bother a lot of plants… Either use a humidifier or wait till summer! Misting doesn’t really do much except for maybe just an hour after you’ve misted…

The tradescantia could probably be repotted. Their roots grow very fast, and all of mine have hated being rootbound.
