Hi. I’m a new plant parent and new to this group. I have a 6” Dieffenbachia Camouflage baby that needs to be repotted. Any advice on what kind of soil to use?

  1. Plant Lives Matter

In my experience with dieffenbachia, they aren’t that picky about what kind of soil they’re in. Standard all-purpose potting soil is perfectly fine. Maybe throw in some perlite for extra drainage if you want or if it’s going to be in a shadier location because they do like to dry out a little between waterings.

You should wait 3-4 weeks before repotting if you just brought it home. Plants go through stress in new environments due to changes in lighting, humidity, water and fertilizers. Repotting adds additional stress with drying/broken roots, change in soil chemical makeup, and potential for bacterial or fungal infections.
