Hi, this is going to be a beginners cry for any help/ advice. Yesterday I received a lemon tree for my birthday. She appears to already have lemon buds growing. Now I am dedicated to the cause but I’ve never had a plant of any kind. So I’m already running before I can walk. Does anyone have any pro tips on what stage this plant is at or what I need to be doing to make sure I don’t kill these babies. I need to repot it, that’s for sure (Again, I’m clueless on when I need to do this) but I did put a grow light today, hopefully that helps. Thank you 🍋💛

Don’t repot it while it’s flowering/fruiting. You can repot in spring. I can’t see the window in the picture but flowers and fruit need lots of light so closer is better.

Oh great. Thanks I will hang fire before I look into repotting.

They need lots of light, warmer temperatures, acidic soil and acidic fertilizer. You can’t fertilize while blooming. I have grown dwarf citrus trees in pots in a south facing patio, but, never indoors. They had too many issues for my patience level. 🍀🪴

Good job with the grow light, they need a lot of light. The best thing I can tell you to do is buy a cheap hygrometer on Amazon and only water when it says it’s in the dry range 1-3. This is the only way to truly know how wet your soil is. The number one key takeaway from watering is. You can’t overwater in 1 sitting, whether you water a cup or a gallon it’s ok so long as it drains. The way you overwater is you water before the roots can dry up a little, then they get soggy like your fingers in a bath, and then they rot. Hygrometer will save you from overwatering frequency issues

I actually haven’t heard of this before. So very helpful! Thank you. I will certainly order one.
