I’m very much a novice in the plant world. I bought 3 new plants and am wondering how soon I should repot them from the plastic they came in. Also, how to determine the correct pot size. As a newbie, I’d appreciate any guidance!

Unlikely they need to be repotted. Repot typically in pot 1-3 inches wider than previous pot. 1” for a small pot. 3” for a really large pot. You’re safe going up 2” for most plants.
7 Likes^^^ Lots of plants like a yearly repot in the spring, but some like to be a little root bound. You can check what your particular plants like. You can also determine if they need a repot by looking at their root to soil ratio. If it’s more roots than soil, or coming out the bottom, repot.

I always leave mine in the plastic nursery planters until they outgrow them! From there, I repot every year or 2, as needed. I like keeping them in the plastic nursery pots so I can plop them into cute decorative pots 😆
