Does anyone have plant recommendations for a south facing window? The window is partially covered by my roof, but it is still very bright. I already have some succulents and a monstera by the window, but my plant stand still has an empty shelf… 😁 Thanks so much!

Id recommend pothos, black raven ZZ, and Never Never plant

Thank you! I have tried a pothos in and unfortunately some of the leaves got a little burned but those other plants look super cool!

If you want a vining plant you can try a string of things!

My golden pothos have done well in my south window. Some thicker leaved Hoyas and some philos like it too. My begonias, aloe, snake plants, and variegated string of hearts have been good too. A lot of plants would like the south window, they’d just need to be acclimated first. I also live in the Midwest

I have been wondering about getting a snake plant, thanks for the advice! Do you think the Hoya crimson queen could be close to the window or would it need to be farther away?

It would probably be okay close, maybe 1-2 feet away for sure. I have my krimson princess very close to the window and it grows really well!

Tradescantia Purple Heart, Oxalis Triangularis can take full sun. Pothos, spider plants and many others can take the south windows with sheer curtains in place especially in winter when the sun is less intense. I have several plants in my south windows now that will flame in June even with sheer curtains as a filter.

Interesting, I’ve never heard of the tradescantia Purple Heart but it looks super cool! Thanks for all the help! I have been wondering about getting sheer curtains, because I have some pothos and spider plants that get just a little too much light in that window so I have had to move them.

I put up some sheer curtains for my English ivy that was getting too much sun in my room, no more crispy leaves..

I live up north (vermont) My daughters ginseng ficus loves the south facing window, lots of new growth & its January 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 The cacti are doing well in there, also my jade & snake plants seem to like it there, i have some philodendrons in there (heartleaf & brasil) and a Dracaena 😁👍🏻 I have a split leaf philodendron getting part sun in there too, its stretching for more light lol

Thank you 😁 I have a toddler & i’d hung the plants up out of reach, and also trying to make it look nice 😁👍🏻 Inexpensive hanging baskets, and decor birdcages from my local $general store to gang up the stabby cacti 😅

I live in the Midwest and have a south facing window. This is what I have been keeping there that’s doing well: snake plant, white nerve fittonia, jade plant, elephant bush, dracaena white jewel, ponytail palm.

I forgot about my ponytail palm. It thrives in full sun outside. It would do well in a southern window. I’ve had my plant for many years.
