My bird of paradise started producing new leaves in October and… they’re still not out/fully grown? I’m thinking probably because it’s winter but I’m not sure and starting to get a little worried. Should I do anything to help or leave it alone? Does going dormant hurt these leaves?

My general advice is to let it do Its thing. Those plants take a long time to open up and can be prone to split. If you really want to avoid that you can kick up the humidity or you can wet a cloth and wrap it around the leaf and gently squeeze to help loosen it.

Thank you so much! This is my plant’s first new leaves with me so I wasn’t sure if this was a normal time frame or if there was something wrong. Thank you!

That is interesting to me that it’s taking that long to unfurl. Mine is still producing new leaves over the winter, but they are unfurling like normal. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Be sure it has plenty of light, water and humidity and we’ll all pray for those little guys to come on out. šŸ˜‡

Thank you! I think I’m gonna get a grow light just for this plant and see if it helps!
