What type of pest does this damage. I bought a big philodendron scandens off of someone on Facebook marketplace and loads of the leaves has this damage. I’ve removed them and have got loads of wet sticks and a few healthy leaves which I’m going to propagate because I’m tired of pests. I feel like I can’t trust people selling plants on Facebook marketplace anymore because the plants have had issues the last three times.

doesn’t look like pests, in my opinion. looks like natural mechanical damage when a leaf is unfurling.

I feel the same way. I’ve gotten some plants with pests from marketplace as well but at the same time not everybody knows what they’re doing, so may not even know the plant even has pests. Sometimes they just see that the plant’s not growing or it’s losing leaves and they decide to cut their losses and get rid of it. That said, after my all-too-recent experience with thrips, I take nothing for granted. I would spray the plant down with a neem oil solution and change the soil immediately, and continue misting the leaves and stems with the solution regularly for at least 1-2 weeks to make sure it didn’t bring any pests along with it.

Bringing in new plants is comparable to bringing in a new pet in to the home. Quarantine - keep it away till ready to introduce to the others. Till ready to introduce until they have had treatment/assessment 🐾💛🌱😉
