My monstera’s leaves are turning yellow and dying. Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent this? It’s quite cold in NY and there’s not a lot of humidity but I don’t have a humidifier. I’m also having trouble keeping the new leaves alive! Any tips would be appreciated. (I water it when needed and let it drain thoroughly)

Check into getting a small humidifier. I got mine at Sam’s Club for under $60. It’s about 1.5’ tall and 1’ wide.

I would definitely get it out of the terra cotta pot. Those are better for cacti and plants that like to completely dry out.. plastic pot might be better 😁 I would definitely look into getting an affordable cool mist humidifier šŸ˜šŸ‘šŸ» I’d found one of those Crane Adorables humidifiers on eBay for $30, it’s an adorable green frog that holds 1 gallon of water. On low/medium the water lasts about 3 days.. my plants seem much happier with it near them. I got it for my pixie Ivy that dries out & tries to unalive itself.. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜… So when I’d bought my monstera it went right in front of the humidifier! My monstera had a couple crispy leaf edges at the store, but the new leaves don’t! A humidifier definitely helps 😁

I did have to use one of my plant stands to get it up a bit higher.. so it’d reach the plants šŸ˜‚ I’d used some of that grippy foamy stuff ppl use under their dishes in cupboards, to keep it from sliding off..

Okay thank you so much! I was considering a humidifier for a lot of my plants. This guy also needs a new pot so I’ll look into alternatives.

For those saying to take it out of the terra-cotta pot, can’t it just be watered more frequently? I have a lot of plants in terracotta pots. I do notice they dry out fast, but I water them as needed.

Thank you! I’ll have to reconsider some of my pots next time I repot them.
